A fascinating Easter trip to Poland's cultural capital.
5 days to discover Krakow, Poland’s amazing jewel, with its great cultural heritage and important historical evidence, at a fascinating time such as Easter.
Polish wonders. Considered by UNESCO as one of the twelve most beautiful architectural complexes in the world, Krakow is the little heart of Poland. A heart that beats with beauty, charm, religiosity and sorrow for those wounds that recent history has inflicted on her and that she has been able to heal with humility and courage. Its center is a breathtaking web of monuments that will leave us incredulous at so much beauty concentrated in such a small space: we will visit the great Market Square, the Royal Castle, Renaissance palaces, Gothic churches and its many synagogues.
Journey into memory. The spirit of Pope John Paul II, who lived here, cloaks the city with an aura of religion, faith and forgiveness. A forgiveness we are unlikely to know how to ask for by visiting the infamous Auschwitz and Birkenau, the death camps that still represent an open wound of recent history. As we touch the injustice of the Nazi horrors, we will be swept away by a wave of mixed emotions, oscillating between anger, respect and admiration for this people who were able to react with pride to such a painful past.
A city reborn. It is a journey that combines beauty and spirituality, even more special if one is lucky enough to happen during the Easter season, when the rigors of winter’s frost finally give way to the colors of spring, in a rebirth that symbolizes the historical journey experienced over the years by Krakow itself. A journey with a moral, and for that reason unforgettable.
