Journey through a multifaceted nation
11 days to discover a nation of constant surprises and great contrasts, visiting unique places such as Seoul, Andong, Gyeongju, Busan, Gayasan National Park and Jeonju.
A different East. Among East Asian countries, South Korea is probably the one that has welcomed Western culture the most, which is reflected especially in the economy and lifestyle of its inhabitants. Film lovers know this well, as Korean films are increasingly rivaling those of Hollywood in quality, budget and now also in popularity. Walking through the streets of Seoul and other major Korean cities gives a sense of both strangeness and familiarity, between modern impulses and corners where traditions are preserved.
Korean contrasts. Indeed, next to the large skyscrapers, shopping malls, clubs and restaurants, there are unexpected quiet corners that can show us authentic traditional Korean life, placid Buddhist temples, typical dwellings and rituals still widespread among the population. The drive for innovation has never given way to repudiation of the past: one need only travel a short distance outside the major centers to discover country villages where time seems to have stood still and shrines that tell the story of ancient dynasties.
Beyond the surface. South Korea is a nation that attracts and exudes great fascination, despite not having any iconic monuments or places that can be said to be world-renowned. It is a land worth discovering above all to savor its unique atmosphere, peculiarities and contrasts, to immerse ourselves in a way of life that knows how to be both near and far at the same time, but will surely open our minds and touch us deeply.
