SEPTEMBER TRIPS: SELECTED JUST FOR YOU

A 6-day journey to discover the history and legends of Northern Greece, visiting fascinating places such as Thessaloniki, Philippi, Pella, Vergina, and Dion.

In the footsteps of a legendary leader.

In ancient Macedonia. Even more than 2,000 years after his death, Alexander the Great remains a legendary figure: he was one of the greatest military leaders in history, conquered an empire that stretched as far as present-day India, and played a significant role in spreading Greek culture beyond its borders. On this journey, we will explore its homeland—what was once the Kingdom of Macedonia—which still preserves a unique heritage of valuable historical artifacts.

An Unusual Greece. Our trip will be based in Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, which will offer us an unexpected glimpse into this country, far from the usual stereotypes. A city of the sea and commerce, it has always been a meeting place for different cultures, as evidenced by the remnants of various eras still visible everywhere—from the Byzantine-era walls to the mosques in the Turkish quarter, and the Venetian-style buildings.

Between History and Legend. On our journey of discovery, we will relive the memory of a historic battle from the Roman era at Philippi, which is now a very important archaeological site. We will get a firsthand look at the grandeur of the Macedonian kings in Pella, the ancient capital of the kingdom and the birthplace of Alexander the Great and his father, Philip. Finally, we’ll climb the slopes of Mount Olympus, home to Zeus and the other gods of Greek mythology, to conclude an exciting journey that brings the history and legends of ancient Greece to life.
